Implantation Views of the AMPLATZER® Duct Occluder

Perform a DAO Angiogram.

From a venous approach, pass the delivery sheath (5-7F) through the PDA into the descending aorta.

The AMPLATZER® Duct Occluder is loaded and advanced through the sheath. Only the retention flange is deployed in the Descending aorta.

The device is pulled back against the orifice of the duct.

While applying slight tension on the cable, the delivery sheath is retracted and the cylindrical portion of the device is deployed, stenting the PDA.

An aortogram is performed to verify correct positioning of the prosthesis.

Final aortogram demonstrating good placement of the AMPLATZER Duct Occluder and complete closure of the defect.

2D color Doppler study demonstrating a large patent ductus arteriosus (arrow).

Post closure TTE study without flow demonstrating good location of the device.

Repeat TTE study with flow this time confirming complete closure of the communication.
