Perform a DAO Angiogram. |
From a venous approach, pass the delivery sheath (5-7F) through the PDA into the descending aorta. |
The AMPLATZER® Duct Occluder is loaded and advanced through the sheath. Only the retention flange is deployed in the Descending aorta. |
The device is pulled back against the orifice of the duct. |
While applying slight tension on the cable, the delivery sheath is retracted and the cylindrical portion of the device is deployed, stenting the PDA. |
An aortogram is performed to verify correct positioning of the prosthesis. |
Final aortogram demonstrating good placement of the AMPLATZER Duct Occluder and complete closure of the defect. |
2D color Doppler study demonstrating a large patent ductus arteriosus (arrow). |
Post closure TTE study without flow demonstrating good location of the device. |
Repeat TTE study with flow this time confirming complete closure of the communication. |
